The Casnago Gschnagenhardt mountain hut at the foot of the Funes Geisler peaks is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful mountain huts in South Tyrol. Probably the most beautiful access to this enchanting mountain hut is the one described here via the Adolf Munkel trail.

Directions to malga Casnago mountain hut

The hike to the malga Casnago mountian hut begins at the Zannes hikers' parking lot at the head of the Val di Funes valley, for which a fee is charged.

Next to the "Treffpunkt Zans", the initially wide hiking trail no . 6 branches off in the direction of Casnago mountain hut. A little later it leads past the inviting Zanser Schwaige and behind it dives into a sparse forest.

Accompanied by the gentle murmur of the small San Zeno stream, it climbs gently to the next fork, where it merges with the Adolf Munkel trail no. 35 towards the malga Casnago mountain hut, which soon becomes narrower.

This path leads in a pleasant ascent through the woods and clearings with a great view, where breathtaking close-up views of the graceful Geisler peaks open up.

Finally, the hiking trail no. 36 branches off to the right from the Adolf Munkel trail. Now the idyllic Casnago mountain hut is not far away: In the midst of dreamy alpine meadows, the always good-humored hut team conjures up wonderfully fragrant South Tyrolean delicacies on the plates of its guests in front of the breathtaking backdrop of the Geisler peaks.

Thus, in the rustic dining room and on the sun-drenched panoramic terrace, the epicurean delights are combined with a picturesque natural backdrop.

From the malga Casnago mountain hut, hiking trail no. 34 leads down to the nearby Geisler mountain hut, which also enjoys great popularity.

Following the forest trails 34, 34B and 36 one after the other, the quickest way is to return to the starting point in Zannes.
