The starting point of the hike to the rifugio Fonda Savio mountain hut is the hikers parking lot located between the Misurina lake and the Antorno lake, which can be reached via Misurina or hiked to in about a quarter of an hour.
Following the sign no. 115 in the direction of Rifugio Fonda Savio mountain hut, the hiking trail first climbs steadily up the slopes covered with larch trees.
Gradually the forest thins out to reveal the striking, red-colored Croda Rossa, the historic Monte Piano and the Picco di Vallandro behind it.
Behind the tree line, the path winds its way in a now gentler ascent along the Cadini di Misurina rocky outcrop to the rifugio Fonda Savio mountain hut.
After a last steep section, you reach this family-run mountain hut at an altitude of 2,367 m, which invites you to enjoy a stop at the foot of the Torre Wundt. In addition to the lovingly prepared traditional dishes, hikers can also expect tempting homemade pastries.

The Fonda Savio mountain hut is named after the three brothers Piero, Paolo and Sergio Fonda-Savio who gave their lives during the second world war. The brothers' parents were the officer and entrepreneur Antonio Fonda-Savio and Letizia Svevo, daughter of the famous Italian writer Italo Svevo.
