Route description lago di Limo lake Pederu

The hike to lago di Limo lake begins at the large parking lot of the rifugio Pederu mountain hut in the rear Val di Marebbe valley (access via the toll road from San Vigilio di Marebbe, for which a fee is charged).

Behind the inviting mountain inn, trail no. 7 branches off in the direction of Fanes. It winds its way up to the upper valley floor, where the most strenuous part of the hike has already been completed.

After an almost flat stretch, the trail continues on a pleasant ascent through the karstic mountain landscape covered with mountain pines to the legendary alpine meadows of small Fanes alp, against the picturesque backdrop of the towering dolomites all around.

Behind the first first huts the trail forks: while the hike to the popular Lavarella moutain hut continues on the right, hiking trail no. 11, which branches off to the left, leads to the now nearby Fanes moutain hut.

Behind the hospitable mountain hut you continue to follow the wide hiking trail no. 11. It climbs up to the cross-decorated Limo pass, on which a breathtakingly beautiful panorama unfolds a little later: Our view sweeps from the nearby Col Bechei over other well-known dolomite peaks such as the La Varella peak, the monte Cavallo peak.

Now the green-yellow shimmering lago di Limo lake, situated at the foot of the panoramic Col Bechei, is not far away. After a few minutes walk, its gentle shores, nestled in a picturesque mountain landscape, invite you to dream and linger.

The way back from the lago di Limo lake is the same as on the way there, where you should not miss the stop at the Fanes mountain hut. The popular mountain hut is known for its varied, lovingly prepared delicacies from the ladin and international cuisine.

As an alternative to the hiking route suggested here, you can also hike from San Cassiano or from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Limo lake.
