The hike to the Mahlknechthütte moutain hut starts at the valley station of the Alpe di Siusi cable car, which takes the hikers from Siusi to the Alpe di Siusi alp, located about 800 m higher.

At the exit of the mountain station, the path to the Mahlknechthütte mountain hut is already signposted. It leads in a pleasant ascent through the wide alpine meadows covered with individual trees and barns, opening up breathtaking views of the majestic rock faces of the Sciliar and the Sassolungo group.

Shortly before the inviting rifugio Stella Alpina mountain hut, the previously asphalted hiking trail no. 7 turns into a wide gravel path. It winds gently up and down past the rifugio Stella Alpina mountain hut and the Almrosenhütte mountain hut through the dreamy alpine landscape.

After about one and a half hours of gentle hiking, the Mahlknechthütte mountain hut presents itself against the backdrop of the Catinaccio. In the cozy guest rooms and on the sunny terrace, hikers are invited to a culinary journey of pleasure through the traditional South Tyrolean and Mediterranean cuisine.

While the adults sit back, relax and enjoy the unique atmosphere on the Alpe di Siusi, the children can also have fun on the hut's own playground.

The way back from the Mahlknechthütte mountian hut is the same as the way there. Alternatively, you can also extend the hike to a beautiful circular hike crossing the Tierser Alpl mountain hut.
