Colfosco mountain trail, hike near Corvara in Badia

The tranquil Colfosco at the southern end of the Parco Naturale Puez-Odle nature park is the highest vacation resort in Abtei . From here, a pleasant mountain trail leads to the Gardena pass: the picturesque Colfosco mountain trail.

Route description Colfosco mountain trail

Starting point of this comfortable and panoramic circular hike through forests and meadows is the car park of the cable car Col Pradat near Colfosco in Badia.

Here you follow the wide hiking trail no . 4, which leads in a leisurely ascent to the Rifugio Stella Alpina mountain hut .

Near the inviting moutain hut at the foot of the mighty Sassongher peak, the Colfosco hiking trail makes a left turn towards the Gardena pass and shortly afterwards joins trail no. 8.

A gentle ascent through slopes covered with Cirmi Pinus cembra, grass and flowers, with a breathtaking view of the Dolomites, leads to the Rifugio Forcelles mountain hut and the shoulder of the same name.

Now you continue the hike on the mountain trail no. 8 , which now winds almost flat at the foot of the Sass Ciampac and the Cir peaks in the direction of the Gardena pass.

Way back from the Gardena pass

Once you have reached the Gardena pass, you can return along the meadow path n. 650. Since the Prima section of this trail is also used as a MTB trail, we decide to take a leisurely walk with a picturesque view of Colfosco: for this purpose, we first take the outward route. Finally, trail no. 8B branches off on the right-hand side of the trail, which initially leads through a secluded forest, then through gentle meadows back to the starting point in Colfosco.

A lush variety of delicate alpine flowers thrives around the Colfosco mountain trail. Among them are the edelweiss, the fire lily, the arnica, the shield-leaved dock or the Turk's-collared lily.
