Misurina Auronzo mountain hut hike

The Rifugio Auronzo mountain hut at the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo can be reached not only via the toll road, but also in a beautiful hike on the scenic Paul Grohmann trail that begins near the toll booth. On the way, breathtakingly beautiful views of the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the surrounding Dolomites open up.

Route description Rifugio Auronzo mountain hut

The hike to the Auronzo mountain hut starts at the toll station of the Three Peaks mountiain road, next to which individual car parks are available (further parking possibilities can be found around Lake Antorno and further down at the car park used for hikes to the Fonda Savio mountain hut).

Next to the tollbooth, the wide forest path n. 108 branches off in the direction of Valle della Rienza. It leads in front of the backdrop of the majestic Tre Cime di Lavaredo through the forest dominated by larches, which shines in the most beautiful golden yellow in autumn.

A little later, on the right side of the path, a sign indicates the ascent to the nearby Malga Rin Bianco, which our hike passes on the right. Shortly after, the path joins the busy mountian road, which it follows briefly upwards.

After about 100 meters, on the left side of the road, the Paul Grohmann hiking trail no. 105a branches off to the Forcella de Col de Medo. It leads in a gentle ascent through the steadily thinning forest and then climbs over the partly gravelly, partly rugged mountain meadow slopes to the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

Here the Paul Grohmann trail turns into hiking trail no. 105. It winds along the south side of the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo to the now nearby rifugio Auronzo mountain hut, opening up picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and lago di Misurina lake shimmering in the sun.

After about 500 meters of ascent, the popular rifugio Auronzo mountain hut, framed by the imposing north face of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, invites you to stop for a break against the backdrop of the surrounding Dolomites and the lower lying Auronzo di Cadore.

A little below the rifugio Auronzo mountain hut, hiking trail no. 101 branches off from the pass road in the direction of Casello Pedaggio (toll booth). It winds down over gravel, stone and meadow slopes and finally through the forest to the starting point.
