Route description Pralongia moutain hut

The hike to the Pralongia moutain hut starts from the spacious Punt de Sciaré car park, located between San Cassiano and the Valparola Pass.

On the opposite side of the road, the wide hiking trail no. 24B branches off in the direction of Pralongia. It leads through meadows with good views and a little later enters a forest.

At the next fork in the road, the trail changes to hiking trail no. 24A. It winds its way in a pleasant ascent through the woods, behind which the picturesque meadows extend.

The gently undulating meadows, overgrown in summer with thousands and thousands of brightly colored flowers, have a unique charm that is due not least to the Dolomites rising up all around - it is no coincidence that the Pralongia, and probably also the meadows below it, are called the "amphitheater of the Dolomites".

In front of this breathtaking backdrop, the now gently ascending meadow path winds its way past individual wooden huts to the already visible Störes.

A breathtakingly beautiful panoramic view unfolds on this cross-adorned hill: the view sweeps over famous Dolomites such as the imposing monte Cavallo, the nearby Setsas, the snow-covered Marmolada, the massive Piz Boe or the striking Sassongher all the way to the distant main ridge of the Alps. A lookout bench invites you to linger and enjoy this picturesque view.

From Störes, trail no. 24 leads down to the nearby Pralongia mountain inn, which is already in sight. In the cozy Zirmstube and on the sun-drenched panoramic terrace, the friendly innkeepers serve their guests tempting culinary delights made from high-quality ingredients to accompany the breathtaking view.

The way back from the Pralongia hut is the same as on the way there.

Hiking tips Pralongia moutain hut

As an alternative to the route suggested here, you can also hike from the Valparola pass, from San Cassiano or from Piz Sorega to the Pralongia hut. In addition, the Pralongia plateau can also be reached by various lifts.

The hike to the Pralongia moutain hut suggested here can also be done in winter. In the cold season, a paved winter hiking trail leads to the Störes and the Pralongia hut, which is also used as a toboggan run.
