Mountain hut tour via the Zsigmondy hut and the Büllelejoch hut to the Rifugio delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountain hut at the foot of the Three Peaks.
This hike at the foot of the Three Peaks leads from Sesto to four of the most popular huts in the Tre Cime nature park: to the Rifugio Pian di Cengia mountain hut, to the Rifugio Zsigmondy, to the Rifugio Pian di Cengia mountain hut and to the Tre Cime - Three peaks mountain hut. On the way, you can enjoy dreamlike views of the Sesto Dolomites with the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
Route description Tre Cime mountain hut
The starting point of this hut hike at the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo is the Rifugio Piano Fiscalino mountain hut near Sesto, next to which there is a large car park for which a fee is charged.
Here the hiking trail no. 102 towards the Rifugio Zsigmondy mountain hut starts. It winds almost flat through the lightly wooded Val Fiscalina to the charming Rifugio Fondo Valle mountain hut, surrounded by imposing rock giants.
Behind the Rifugio Fondo Valle mountain hut, continue along hiking path no. 102, from which, a little later, hiking path no. 103 branches off in the direction of the Rifugio Zsigmondy mountain hut. In front of the imposing backdrop of the towering Dolomites all around, it climbs quite steeply over the slopes, which are partly overgrown with mountain pines and interspersed with stones and rocks, to this inviting moutain hut at the foot of the defiant Croda dei Toni.
From the Zsigmondy mountain hut, the path no. 101 leads in a mostly gentle ascent through stone-covered mountain meadows and partly rocky, partly rugged terrain to the hospitable Rifugio Pian di Cengia mountain hut. This charming mountain hut, surrounded by a dolomite-white mountain landscape at 2,520 m above sea level, is by the way the smallest and at the same time the highest in the Dolomites of Sesto.
Continuing to follow path number 101 in the direction of the Rifugio delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the rather wide mountain path winds its way up to the nearby, somewhat higher Forcella Pian di Cengia pass, from which it initially descends quite steeply over scree. With a view of the historic Monte Paterno and the Lago dei Piani lakes shimmering in the sun, it finally leads gently up and down to what is probably the most visited mountain hut in South Tyrol and the Dolomites: the Rifugio delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo at the foot of the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
Way back from the Rifugio delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountain hut
After a well-deserved rest in front of this enchanting scenery, follow the hiking path no. 102, which leads from the Tre Cime di Lavaredo hut through the wildly romantic Altensteintal valley down to the Rifugio Fondo Valle - Talschlusshütte mountain hut.
After about one and a half hours you reach this inviting moutain hut, whose exquisite menu and cozy ambience attracts numerous hikers.
From the Rifugio Fondo Valle mountain hut you hike back to the starting point in about 20 minutes along the already known hiking trail.
