Umes Hofer Alpl hike

The Hofer Alpl is an insider tip for lovers of South Tyrolean cuisine. To this popular mountain hut at the foot of the Sciliar leads a short hike from Umes.

Route description Hofer Alpl

The hike to the Hofer Alpl begins in the tranquil hamlet of Umes near Fiè allo Sciliar. The car park near the village church of St. Martin offers several parking possibilities.

Here the initially asphalted hiking trail no. 3 branches off in the direction of Hofer Alpl. It leads in a pleasant ascent past scattered houses and farms and opens up dreamy views of Fià allo Sciliar, the Renon and the surrounding mountains.

A little later it turns into a narrow meadow path that climbs up to the edge of the forest against the backdrop of the Hammerwand. Finally, it enters a partly light, partly dense forest, through which it makes its way in the now somewhat steeper ascent.

After a good hour of steady hiking, the idyllically situated Hofer Alpl invites you to a culinary journey of pleasure through South Tyrolean cuisine. While the adults enjoy the picturesque view and the unique atmosphere at Hofer Alpl, the children can also have fun at the hut's own playground.

If you want, you can hike back to Umes on the way there. But we take the slightly longer, gently sloping hiking trail no . 8, which winds through a forest.

Finally, hiking trail no. 8A branches off on the left side of the trail. A little later it joins the already known hiking trail no. 3, which leads back to the starting point in Umes.

Hiking tips Corti Alpl

The hiking trail from the laghetto di Fiè lake to the Hofer Alpl via the Tuffalm mountain hut is also recommended.

The Hofer Alpl is also open in winter. When the mountains, meadows and forests have turned into a glittering snowy landscape, you can go tobogganing down to the valley.
