Route description San Cassiano Armentarola
Our short hike to Armentarola and to the restaurant Sare starts in San Cassiano.
Following the hiking sign no. 11 in the direction of Armentarola, the hike first leads past the valley station of the nearby cable car Piz Sorega, behind which it changes into a wide hiking trail.
In front of the impressive backdrop of the surrounding Dolomites, it leads gently uphill at first, then mostly flat through meadows and finally along the road to Armentarola, where the ski area of Alta Badia begins in winter.
From Armentarola the trail continues through meadows and sparse groves towards the Capanna Alpina mountain hut.
A little later, at the foot of the Conturines peak and the Lagazuoi, the cozy Sare restaurant/pastry shop invites you to stop for a bite to eat. While the adults can make themselves comfortable in the cozy restaurant or on the sun terrace, the children can also look forward to a small playground.
Way back to San Cassiano
On the opposite side of the road, the meadow path no. 24B branches off and a little later leads to a fork in the road. While on the left the path climbs to the popular Valparola mountain hut, the hiking trail no. 18 (later 24A), which branches off to the right, leads back to Armentarola.
At the Armentarola Hotel it joins trail no. 18A, which a little later joins the already known trail. It leads back to San Cassiano against the backdrop of the towering Sass de Putia, where you can end the hike in one of the inviting cafés or restaurants.
