This family-friendly mountain bike tour runs along the old railroad line Dobbiaco - Cortina through the legendary Val di Landro valley and is a real treat for all the senses. Since on this round on a total of 35 km also only about 350 meters of altitude must be covered, it is absolutely doable and well suited also for the less trained mountain biker.

We start from the Dobbiaco train station in a westerly direction and already after 200 meters, at the level of the Carabinieri station, we branch off to the left onto the cycle path towards the Val di Landro valley. From the Nordic Arena, where cross-country skiing world cup races are regularly held in winter, we continue into the valley on a wide, slightly ascending gravel road. The bike path runs parallel to the crystal clear Rienz River and its wild roar is our constant companion on this tour. We pass the beautiful Dobbiaco lake and the soldier cemetery. Shortly after, a stop with a photo is almost obligatory, because the world-famous Three Peaks of Lavaredo present themselves from their most beautiful side. After Landro lake with Monte Cristallo in the background, we are only about 4 kilometers short of our destination for today - the Cimabanche, which is also the border between South Tyrol and the Veneto.

If you still feel like it and have some energy left, you can stay on the bike path and continue down towards Cortina. This part of the route is no less exciting, as it also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Dolomite peaks. Otherwise, simply return from the Cimabanche along the same path back to Dobbiaco . From the soldier cemetery we leave the bike path and instead take an exciting, easy trail to just before the lago di Dobbiaco lake. From there it's back on gravel paths to our starting point in Dobbiaco.
