Col Raiser Seceda Hike
Hike from Col Raiser to Pieralongia mountain hut, to Seceda mountain hut and to Troier mountain hut
Several paths lead to the Seceda: while the ascents from Ortisei, from Santa Cristina and from Val di Funes valley require good walking skills, it can also be reached in an easy hike from Col Raiser. On the way the Pieralongia mountain hut and the Troier hut invite you to stop for a break.
Route description Seceda Col Raiser
The hike to the Seceda begins at the valley station of the Col Raiser cable car in Santa Cristina, with which you can easily and comfortably float up to the Col Raiser, which is about 500 meters higher in altitude.
Behind the mountain station the wide hiking trail no. 4A branches off. With a view of the Odle peaks, it leads on a gentle ascent through alpine meadows that are rich in views and turn into a colorful sea of flowers in early summer.
After three quarters of an hour of leisurely hiking, the rustic Pieralongia mountain hut invites you to take your first break. Amidst the gently rolling meadows at the foot of the Fermeda peaks, the friendly hut team serves its guests simple hut dishes, fresh milk, homemade yogurt and homemade pastries from early June to mid-October (as of 2021).
Behind the Pieralongia mountain hut, hiking trail no. 2B branches off to the Seceda. It leads in an easy ascent through alpine meadows rich in views and changes a little later into the now steeper trail no. 1.
It winds in front of an enchanting backdrop up to the 2,518 m high Seceda. Its gently undulating mountain meadows contrast enchantingly with the Dolomites towering all around, of which the Odla peaks towering to the side in particular attract all glances - and photo lenses.
From the eastern side of the Seceda, the almost flat path no. 6 crosses the meadows in the direction of the Seceda cable car, behind which lies the most panoramic point of Seceda. A little later, next to the wood-carved summit cross, a breathtakingly far-reaching view unfolds, stretching from the Dolomites to the Brenta, Adamello and Ortles groups, all the way to the Ötztal Alps and the Stubai Alps. A panoramic platform lists the names of the most prominent mountains, which include the Sella massif, the Sassolungo group and the Sciliar. The most sought-after photo motif, however, are the Geisler peaks towering to the side.
Way back from Seceda
From the summit cross of the Seceda you start the way back on the already known hiking trail no. 1, which you keep this time until you reach the inviting Troier mountain hut. The rustic mountain hut is known for its temptingly fragrant delicacies, which are served on the panoramic sun terrace and in the cozy guest room.
From the Troier moutain hut, the trail descends to the heart-shaped Lech da Iman lake and, just before the Col Raiser cable car, rejoins the already familiar trail that leads back to the mountain station.
