Corvara in Badia Jimmy mountain hut hike

The Jimmy Hütte mountain hut below the Cirspitzen is one of the most popular huts in the Val Badia valley. In addition to the short hikes from Passo Gardena pass, it can also be visited in a scenic hike from Colfosco.

Route description Jimmy Hütte mountain hut Colfosco

The hike to the Jimmy Hütte mountain hut starts at the church in Colfosco. From here you walk down the small road to the Gardena pass, where the hiking sign no. 645 points the way to the Passo Gardena pass.

It leads to the eastern edge of the village and then winds its way partly gently uphill, partly flat through flower-covered meadows and light woods. On the way, beautiful views of the majestic rock kingdom of the surrounding Dolomites open up.

Behind the roaring Pisciadu waterfalls (to which a short detour is worthwhile), the now narrow path becomes somewhat steeper for the first time. It climbs through the woods to the parking lot for hikers below the Passo Garden pass.

Hikers who are not sure-footed should take the meadow path no. 650 here (caution: parts of the path are also used as a mountain bike single trail). However, the ascent on hiking trail no. 666A is much more scenic.

It leads in a steady, serpentine ascent through the boulder-rich, gorge-like furrowed Val Setus in the direction of the famous Pisciadu.

Shortly befor the rope-secured ascent to the  Pisciadu mountain hut, path no. 666 branches off to the right to the Passo Gardena pass. It crosses the scree- and rock-strewn slopes below the faces of the Sella massif in a mostly gentle, partly slightly exposed up and down, opening up breathtaking views of the graceful Cir peaks, the Sas Ciampac peak, the Sassongher peak, the La Varella and the Conturines peaks.

Finally, it descends through flower-covered mountain meadows to the Passo Gardena pass,  where for the first time also the Sassolungo peak and the Sciliar peak come into our field of vision.

From the Passo Gardena pass, hiking trail no. 2 leads to the now nearby Jimmy mountain hut. After another 20 minutes of leisurely hiking, the friendly hut team invites you to dinner. In the lovingly furnished Tyrol parlors and on the sunny panoramic terrace, hikers can expect a culinary journey of pleasure through modern and traditional cuisine.

Way back from Jimmy Hütte mountain hut to Colfosco

From the Jimmy mountain hut follow the hiking trail no. 8A, which shortly afterwards joins the Colfosco mountain trail marked with the number 8 .

It descends gently in front of a dreamy backdrop through mountain meadows covered with pine trees, which turn into a colorful sea of flowers in early summer. On the way, the Rifugio Forcelles moutain hut and the Rifugio Stella Alpina mountain hut invite you to take a pleasant break.

From the Rifugio Stella Alpina mountain hut, hiking trail no. 4 leads down to the cable car Col Pradat, from where you can reach the starting point at the church in just a few minutes.
