Panoramic hiking path Velturno

Around Velturno, the gentle panoramic trail winds in a wide arc through meadows, forests and small villages. As its name suggests, it opens up picturesque views of the Val d'Isarco valley slopes and the surrounding mountain peaks, which include the Sass de Putia, the Val di Funes Geisler peaks or the Corno Renon.

Route description Velturno Panoramic Trail

Our little hike begins at Velturno castle in the Val d'Isarco valley village of the same name. On the opposite side of the road the panoramic path starts.

It briefly follows the road, from which it branches off to the right a little later. With a view of the Plose, the Sass de Putia and the Odles of Eores, it runs partly level, partly in a gentle ascent through meadows and sparse groves.

Shortly before Snodres, a view point opens up picturesque views of the Dolomites opposite, of which the jagged Grande Odla peak in particular catch the eye. Two benches invite you to enjoy this dreamy idyll.

After a short rest, the hike continues to nearby Snodres, the highest point of our hike.

After crossing this idyllically situated village, the panoramic trail passes the small waterfall of the Kreuzbach stream and enters a forest behind the Glangerhof farm.

After a short climb in the opposite direction, it leads through woods and meadows down to sun-drenched Velturno, where you can round off the hike in one of the inviting cafés.

Hiking tips Velturno

Velturno is the starting point of other beautiful hiking trails. For example, you can hike down to the bishop town of Bressanone or to the Dürer town of Chiusa or you can wander through beautiful meadows, forests and chestnut groves on the Keschtnweg (chestnut trail) to Pinzago.
