Route description Pralongia moutain hut Valparola pass
The hike to the Pralongia moutain hut starts from the Valparola pass, 2,168 m high, located in the province of Belluno. Next to the inviting rifugio passo Valparola, the narrow hiking trail no. 24 branches off in the direction of Settsass / Pralongia.
It first leads past the shimmering Valparola lake and then meanders gently up and down through the landscape at the foot of the Settsass, which is partly covered with larches and grass and partly strewn with stones, boulders and rocks. On the way, breathtakingly beautiful views open up into the Val Badia valley and the surrounding towering mountains. In particular, the Sassongher peak, the Gardenacia plateau, the Putia and the nearby Lagazuoi stand out.
Finally, on the left side of the path, the ascent to the Settsass branches off. But we continue to follow the path towards Pralongia, which now winds through picturesque alpine meadows covered with countless flowers in the warm season on the Störes.
On this cross-decorated hill, a breathtaking view of the Dolomites and the main Alpine ridge towering in the distance unfolds. A lookout bench invites you to linger and enjoy this picturesque idyll.
From Störes the path descends to the Pralongia hut, which is now close by and already in sight. In the cozy Zirmstube and on the panoramic terrace the friendly landlords take care of the physical well-being of their guests, whom they spoil with regional dishes with a mediterranean touch.
The quickest way back from the Pralongia hut is on the way there.
Hiking tip return way Pralongia moutain hut
If you want to extend the hike to a somewhat longer, scenically extremely rewarding circular hike, take hiking trail no. 23 at the foot of the Settsass in the direction of Col di Lana. It winds gently up and down through the breathtakingly beautiful mountain landscape at the foot of the Settsass to the starting point at the Valparola pass.
