Interesting facts about the lake Carezza
Because of its idyllic location in the middle of the evergreen Latemar forest dominated by spruces and its peculiar, constantly changing play of colors, lake Carezza is also called the "fairy tale lake of the Dolomites". However, its clarity and translucence are due less to magical powers than to the light dolomite rock at the bottom of the lake and the low growth of algae.
The wood of the Latemar Forest is also known far beyond the borders of the country. The high-quality spruce wood is not only a sought-after construction timber, but is also highly prized by instrument makers. The compact spruce, which has grown under almost optimal conditions, lends a special sound to the Violin.
